Photo Diary: Hiratsuka Tananbata summer festival Vblog

Hello!

Last weekend on 7/7 I had the chance to go to Hiratsuka to one of Japan's top Tanabata Festival! Since this was one of the first of the summer festivals in Japan it was super busy and crowed D; I was super tired when I got home.. lol Sorry about the dark video and photos it was cloudy and raining that day. ^^;;

What is Tanabata?
Tanabata (七夕?, meaning "Evening of the seventh") is a Japanese star festival, originating from the Chinese Qixi Festival.[1] It celebrates the meeting of the deities Orihime and Hikoboshi (represented by the stars Vega and Altair respectively). According to legend, the Milky Way separates these lovers, and they are allowed to meet only once a year on the seventh day of the seventh lunar month

Made a Vlog of this event :)

All the wishes written on a paper

plastic masks with all the popular characters
tanabata decorations hanged everywhere that lights up at night
character yo-yo ballons
kasutera which is a sponge cake in a hello kitty and doraemon shape so cute

cute yukata girls everywhere but too bad it was raining D;

If you come to Japan during summer till end of Sept you can experience festivals like this in all over Japan, one of my favorite events in Japan!

well thanks for stopping by!

XOXO
