Just a really short photo diary post from this past weekend~
1.21.12 was Zach & eki's 4 years Anniversary!♥
He planned a nice day for our annivers but unfortunately he come down with a flu so did get to anything but to go out to eat... but it was relaxing and nice weekend! :)
we been talking about going to eat this one place called Piccolo mainly because they have unique menus and use ingredients that are from local famers and organic products.
here is what they say:
More than any other restaurant in Minnesota, Piccolo's cuisine is focused on quality over quantity, putting what is seasonal and creative ahead of what is safe and familiar. We believe in changing our menu frequently, buying locally and seasonally whenever possible, and putting a significant amount of time and devotion into each beautifully presented plate. Call it small plates, "fractional dining", or simply a tasting menu à la carte. The menu is designed to allow guests a chance to create a different dining experience with each visit, pairing risk with reward. You could say that choice is the defining characteristic of Piccolo, allowing people to dine according to their desires and appetite.
I was very pleased with their food, they were really tasty, looked pleasant overall I was happy but the portions are tiny very french-esque style hehe :)
please excuse the low resolution photos,, I got lazy at taking the photos with my dslr even though I brought with,, bad blogger here.. sorry!! :(

Apparently its one of Andrew's favorite place to eat~ I wish I could find a link to the full episode so that you can see it too but I could only find a CM for this episode~

after dinner tried to make some chocolate covered strawberries for the first time! |
but didn't turn out too well I heated the chocolate too long and didn't temper the chocolates well so it turned out sorta grainy... D; next time I will perfect it lol |
Zach gave me this 13" macbook air for Anniversary! Actually gave it to me on new years as early present~ :D |
made chicken noodle soup for sick Zach used the recipe from Food network made a slight modification, used wonton skin instead of egg noodle lol it was really yummy! well that was my weekend! Tempering chocolate without the right size pots can be very tricky. I had to create a makeshift double-broiler from things I had around the house! Looks like a great night, and happy anniversary! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary to you both!! Wow...I simply adore your relationship with each other...I remember when he got you the ring light for your photos. I wish you two the best!!
ReplyDeleteYou're so pretty! Happy anniversary :) I always feel ripped off eating French dishes because there is so little food, but I guess it's a cultural difference

Hi! wow really! when are you moving here? what part of the city are you going to live? what kind of food do you like? well if you like trendy area that are young and hipster-ish area them its the uptown area where they is good eats here. My favorite are Chino latino its asian spanish fusion place, Stella's fish cafe has food seafood, Fujiya and sushi tango has some good sushi, there are quite a few asian place you can eat there is a street filled with Viet food and chinese food! Over in saint paul there are tons of Korean and other Asian eats too!

ReplyDeleteI'm moving in about a week and a half to stay with my parents while I finish Uni. Area is.. well, my house is right across the river from UofM by like 1 or 2 miles. If that helps. ^^ Basically I like anything but I'm mostly wondering what's good in terms of sushi or basically good Korean/Japanese food (maybe Indian as well~). I'm spoiled in Portland with our major Japanese supermarket hee. Of course I like it all though, as long as it's good food! I will totally put those places on my list. :O Thaaanks you're so kind haha.
ReplyDeleteThanks sweetie! yeah I didn't think it was that tricky,, I used two pots as a double boiler too but I didn't take off the heat till it was too hot >_< didn't cool off a bit either once I dipped in the choco D: it was my first time and I didn't do a good job lol T__T
ReplyDeletethank you!! ^__^
ReplyDeleteThank you~ aww I understand how you feel! But sometimes when its eye pleasingly beautiful you tend to savor the food more and it seems to taste a little bit better when you can savor each bite :D~
ReplyDeleteThe food presentation from that restaurant is ace! I really love looking at such nice food pictures, it's an art in itself!
ReplyDeleteI've seen a few episodes of Bizarre Foods before. Sooo addicting, especially for a food addict like myself. haha The strawberries you got look so plump, even with "grainy" chocolate I'm sure it tasted amazing. Happy anniversary!! c:
the food looks so pretty and dainty ;__; i once tried to make chocolate covered strawberries but ended up burning the chocolate in the pot LOL so i think you did well!
