Health Benefits of Matcha
from www.matchasource.com
The health benefits of matcha tea exceed those of green tea because when you drink matcha you ingest the whole leaf, not just the brewed water.
One glass of matcha is the equivalent of 10 glasses of green tea in terms of its nutritional value and antioxidant content. For maximum nutritional benefit, matcha tea is unparalleled.Matcha Tea – A Nutritious Beverage

Matcha Tea – For Antioxidant Protection
Exponentially Higher in Antioxidants than Blueberries and Spinach
Green teas contain a high amount of antioxidants, chemically compounds known to forestall aging. Antioxidants are found in many fruits and vegetables – even chocolate. A testing method known as ORAC – short for oxygen radical absorbance capacity, evaluates the antioxidant levels found in food. According to research done by Tufts University, the ORAC capacity of matcha green tea is exponentially higher than other foods known for their high antioxidants levels such as blueberries and spinach.
The ORAC rating of matcha is 1300 units/g, compared to 105 units/g for pomegranates and 91 units/g for wild blueberries.
Matcha Tea - For Renown Cancer Fighting Catechin EGCg
Renown Cancer Fighting Catechins are Only Found In Green Tea
Not all antioxidants are created equal. Antioxidants are found in many foods including fruits and vegetables. There are many types of antioxidants, however, the class known as catechins are only found in green tea, and these maybe the most potent of all. And of the catechins, EGCg (epicgallocatechin gallate) is the catechin with broadest and most potent cancer-fighting properties. Sixty percent of the catechin content of matcha tea is EGCg.
One gram of matcha contains 105 mg of total catechin content, or roughly 61% EGCg.

Matcha Tea – For Cleansing the Body of Toxins
Rich in Chlorophyll, A Renowned Detoxifying Agent
Chlorophyll, the pigment which gives leaves their green color, helps to remove heavy metals and chemical toxins from the body. Because matcha powdered tea is fully ingested when consumed, unlike tea leaves which are infused then discarded, and because matcha is shade grown, a process which increases the chlorophyll content in the leaves, matcha tea is a chlorophyll rich food.

Theanine Improves Mood and Concentration
Matcha contains L-theanine, an amino acid known to relax the mind. For this reason, matcha is also known as a mood enhancer. Buddhist monks drank matcha to assist in meditation, as matcha’s amino acids, combined with caffeine, offer a sustained calm alertness over time. Amino acids are also what gives matcha is distinctive taste. They contribute to what is known as the fifth taste, or umami, characterized by a rich creamy mouth feel. Kama matcha, our ceremony grade tea, made from the youngest, tenderest leaves, contains the highest levels of amino acids. The delicate flavor profiles of Kama Matcha and Morning Matcha are best observed when prepared in the traditional style, with a bamboo whisk and whisked in a matcha bowl.
Matcha Tea – Suited for Meditative Practice
Create Your Own Ceremony and Relieve Stress
The Japanese Tea Ceremony known as Chanoyu is a highly ritualized practice of drinking matcha tea. The Zen monks were the first to introduce matcha to Japan, and their influence is seen throughout the ceremony. Most notably is the emphasis on a calm mind, serene settings and awareness of nature. Drinking tea alone will not convert you a Zen monk, but adding a tea ritual to your day, however you choose to create it, will increase the possibilities for calm and serene experiences in your life. For inspiration we recommend the Tea Ceremony by Sen’o Tanaka with detailed descriptions of Chanoyu rituals, artifacts and philosophy.
ok so you get the idea of what matcha is Now here is how I make matcha latte at home, its basically made similar to Vietnamese french coffee :)
This direction makes a BIG glass serving so if you want to make is smaller serving just reduce the amount for all but I love a big glass of matcha latte♥
what you need:
1.Matcha green tea straight powder
Im using GoodYoung tea this is a Taiwanese brand can be found at asian grocery stores
2. Almond Milk can be in vanilla or original tastes the same either way ^^ or use Milk
I use this instead of milk since Im lactose intolerant and its really rich and creamy, has a great flavor and as nutritious as a glass of milk♥
3. sweetened condensed milk
I love love~ condensed milk btw this doesnt bother me with lactose intolerance yay~
4. half cup of hot water
Its easier to mix the matcha powder and the condensed milk when the water is hot so they all blend in nicely.
5. Add matcha powder in the water, I add about 1 1/2 full teaspoon of powder, you can adjust to how strong you want your matcha latte to taste I like mine med to strong so that I can really taste the matcha and the more the matcha more its is healthy for you :)
6. make sure to mix the powder completely or you will get chunks of powder and the chunks will be pretty bitter and strong
7. Add condensed milk, depending on how sweet you want you can adjust the servings, I like mine pretty sweet to counter the bitter strong taste of matcha so I add 4-5 teaspoon full and make sure you mix it well also.
8. Now pour the mixture into a glass~ you can see that the glass is about 1/4 full so add about equal amounts of almond milk into the glass so that the glass is half full or more depending on how creamy you want your matcha milk to taste.
9. Add ice! enough so that the glass is full so its nice and Chilled~ ^___^
10. Finished!! The drink should be really nice mint green color if its lighter than what you see here it might not taste much of matcha you can always add more of matcha after if its too light but make sure to mix the powder in hot liquid or it wont mix too well,,
Now drink up♥ this drink is perfect for HOT summer day or night haha :P
If you are looking for quality imported Japanese matcha powder I do recommend Teavana matcha tea powder but its pretty expensive since its only 40g/80g can but tastes so much better! XD but this powder comes in 250g so you have MANY usages and it is really tasty too! Also matcha powder can be mixed in vanilla ice cream and make your own green tea ice cream, you can bake this in a cookie or a cake so there are endless with what you can mix matcha powder in! ♥
Hope you like it~ Stay healthy and beautiful everyone! :D
XOXO
